  • The Writing Center Has Moved! - The ALHS Writing Center has moved to the NEW building. We're still open Mondays and Tuesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 but we've got new digs: Monday: New Building Ground floor: Room 6 Tuesday: New Building Ground floor: Room 2 Come see the NEW and IMPROVED writing center, and get the help you need with your writing assignments
  • Are You Interested In Planning or Putting On Events? - Do you like working in groups, and have an acty for youth eadership? The After School Program wants to speak with you. Stopy by TB21 on Tuesday, January 19th during lunch for our first Youth Council meeting. Take part in your after school program and join the Youth Council. Consider this an open invitation.   • Annual Arthur Ashe Essay Contest - All students interested in the Arthur Ashe Essay Contest here is your topic for this year, "Some say that wining the 1968 U.S. Open as the first African American male was Arthur Ashe's greatest accomplishment, what do you think?" I would advise those of you that are planning to write an essay to do a little research on Arthur's life off the tennis court. He did some great thing in the fields of racial discrimination and AIDS research and prevention. Prizes are a trip to New York, a banquet in your honor and you will be on TV during the Opening Day of the US Open Tennis Competition in August /September, plus tickets to a Broadway musical play.See Ms. Martinez in the College/Career Center for more detail on how to write your essay.   • Night School at ALHS - Are you a senior with an F you want to make up? Spring semester of night school is starting on 1/25- see your counselor to get signed up for your class if you're already on the waitlist. Come see Claire in TB-21 with questions.
  • Health Idol - Health Idol starts February 1st! Come by the North Gym at Lunch for the first two challenges of the competition!
  • Mustang Cyclists! - Positive Momentum would like to get a cycling program started and they want your input! Please stop by the Wellness Center (room 143) and talk to Ian to get involved.
  • Heartfelt Thanks From Mr. Pang - Thank you to Ms. Christine Eng, Rosemary Kamkar, Paula Martinezmoles, Col. Powell, Elaine Walenta, Barnaby Payne and his administrative team for planning and implementing such a wonderful "Salute" on Saturday, January 9th. I am grateful to the Alumni Association and the PTSA for their generous monetary donations for the celebration. And the students - thank you ASB, Cheerleaders, Drum Corps, Girls Drill Team, JROTC Honor Guard, Drama Club and the Lincs for all you did to make my salute a touching and memorable event. Finally, I must thank the hundreds of people who gave precious time on a Saturday to attend the salute. I am humbled and honored to have received such an outpouring of love and support. I miss you all very much and I will always consider myself, "A Mustang Forever."
  • Cyber High Spring Semester to make up an F - Students may begin registering for spring semester Cyber High with their counselors. Only students with an F in a course needed for graduation will be enrolled. There is a $30 deposit to activate your account which will be returned if you finish the course by May 28th.
  • Cyber High Spring Semester to improve a D - Registration for Spring Cyber High is open. Any student wishing to improve a D on their transcript through Cyber High will need to pay the $80 course fees. There are a minimum number of fee waivers available for free/reduced lunch students which are both financial and merit based. Any student who receives a fee waiver must put down a $30 deposit which will be returned if the course is completed by May 28th. Those students who do not qualify for the fee waiver must pay the $80 course fee. No deposit required for full paying students.
  • Evening School at Lincoln High - Evening school classes will be offered at Lincoln High School for Geometry, Algebra, Social Studies, Spanish, English, Biology and Earth Science. These are only for students who have received an F in a class needed for graduation. There will not be summer school available for underclassmen to make up these Fs. Register with your counselor TODAY or risk not graduating in red and gold colors. Only 25 spots available in each class!
  • Mahatma Rice/Univision Radio Scholarship Program! - Seniors: Apply for the Mahatma Rice/Univision Radio Scholarship for a chance to win $2,000 CASH! To enter, students must complete a short essay of 150-250 words on the following topic: "What will my college degree say about me?". Details and entry form available online at or email Deadline to submit is FEBRUARY 16TH, 2010. Get that $$$$!
  • *The BLACK COLLEGE EXPO is January 30th* - Mark your calendars: ALL students are invited to attend the upcoming Black College Expo on 1/30/10... Tickets are $8 if ordered online, or $10 at the door. It will be held at the Oakland Marriott Convention Center, 9am-6pm. Learn about Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), Public and Private Universities, Community Colleges, Trade Schools and Educational Services. Seminars also available for Parents, "Hot" Careers, Student Athletes, and more. Workshops on How to find MONEY for College and FAFSA. Afternoon entertainment includes a Scholarship Presentation, KFC Step Show and a Surprise Celebrity Guest.... High School and College Students are welcome.   • The California Culinary Academy wants YOU! - Attention all students: Are you interested in becoming a Culinary or Pastry & Baking Chef or working in the food/restaurant industry??? The California Culinary Academy (CSA) in SF has opportunities for YOU. Please pick up an informational flyer from your Homeroom, Counseling Department or College/Career Center. There will also be an Open House at CCA on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 10:00am that includes a Financial Aid workshop for the FAFSA and Cal-Grant applications for seniors.
